The Murray County Board of Elections and Registration will begin the early scanning of mail-in absentee ballots for the June 9, 2020 Presidential Preference/General Primary/Non-Partisan Election on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. The scanning will begin at 10:00 am and will continue until finished, resuming daily at 10:00 as needed. This is a scanning process only, no vote totals will be calculated in the computer system. Those calulations will take place after the close of the polls on the 9th of June. The scanning will take place in the office of the Board of Elections and Registration at 121 North 4th Avenue, Chatsworth, GA 30705.
A drop box for absentee ballots is located in the brick wall of the annex building at the top of the steps leading from the paved parking lot.
The mission of the Murray County election office is to:
- Serve the public of Murray County in the processes of registering citizens to vote and conducting elections in accordance with federal and state laws
- Serve the public and all political candidates with the information necessary for a smooth electoral process
- Maintain accurate records that are required by both federal and state statutes
This office bears all responsibility for registration of voters and the conduct of elections as set forth in chapter 21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated
. All activities are conducted in accordance with the rules of the Georgia State Election Board
This office conducts registration and election activity for the City of Chatsworth, and registration activity for the City of Eton.
