Goals & Resources

The goal of this program is preventing the disease in animals, preventing the disease in humans, and using methods to decrease the likelihood of exposure between humans and animal rabies vectors.

All animal bites (domestic animals and wildlife) must be reported as soon as possible to Murray County Environmental Health at (706) 517-1400, extension 8. If your call is after hours, call 911 and make a report to the Murray County Sheriff's Department or the Chatsworth Police Department. After-hours information and advice regarding potential rabies exposure can also be obtained from the Georgia Poison Control Center at (800) 222-1222.
