If You Need Protection

Security Services

If you are threatened or intimidated by the offender, please immediately contact the Sheriff's Department at (706) 695-4592 to make a report. For immediate emergency assistance, dial 911.

Keeping You Informed

In order for you to be notified of various proceedings, you must provide law enforcement with your address and home and work telephone numbers (not pagers or cellular telephones). If your phone number changes from the number you first gave the police, you must notify the Victim Assistance Program at (706) 272-2273, the Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office at (706) 821-1135, and/or the State Court Solicitor's Office at (706) 695-4811. If there is an arrest, you can be informed of criminal proceedings.

If the defendant (accused) is convicted and sent to prison and you want to be notified of parole or want to express your opinions prior to a parole decision, you must contact the State Board of Pardons and Paroles at (404) 656-5651.

Also, if the defendant is sentenced to prison and you want to know of any change in his/her status while in prison (such as furlough, work release, or escape), contact the Georgia Department of Corrections at (404) 656-5999. The Victim Assistance Program can assist you with any of this communication.
