Applicants are encouraged to read the applicable law prior to making application to ensure a better understanding of your rights and responsibilities. You may obtain a copy of the applicable law in the office.
Firearms License Application
To apply for a firearm license you must be 21 years or older and a resident of Murray County. The fee for a license is $77.00 and if approved by the State will be valid for a period of 5 years. Once the fingerprints are taken and application completed, it takes approximately 5 business days to get a reply on the status from the state.

Be aware that prior convictions for certain offenses will disqualify you from obtaining a firearms license. Some of those offenses include, but are not limited to, convictions arising out of domestic violence, weapons violations and any drug related offenses, whether felony or misdemeanor.
